During the 2011-2012 school year, an innovative group of high school students from TERRA Environmental Research Institute partnered with the DuMond Conservancy in a project funded by the State Farm Youth Advisory Board. The project, entitled Primates, Podcasts and Preservation, aimed to educate and engage youth in conservation through the use of technology. Six videos were created, each centered on a different primate, serving as a “flagship” species for conservation. The students also traveled to local elementary schools to share their videos and their passion for conservation. The videos are on display at Monkey Jungle, engaging the many school groups and tourists that travel to the historic zoological park every year.
